Insulated open-ended spanner with VDE certification, designed for work on live electrical installations. Manufactured from chrome vanadium steel with a two-component handle providing electrical insulation up to 1000V AC in accordance with EN 60900.
VDE certification confirms that the tool has passed safety testing for live working up to 1000V AC. Every individual item is tested at 10,000V for the period specified by the standard. This means the spanner can be used on 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase installations while maintaining a safe insulation margin.
The CrV steel alloy is characterised by increased hardness and resistance to mechanical wear. The addition of chromium increases corrosion resistance, while vanadium improves the elasticity of the material, preventing permanent deformation under load. This material is the standard in the manufacture of professional tools owing to the long-term retention of dimensional tolerances.
The handle is made from two layers of plastic: a hard core providing rigidity and a soft outer surface with non-slip properties. The insulating layer protects against electric shock, while the ergonomic shape reduces hand fatigue during prolonged work. The warning colours (yellow/red) are standard for VDE insulated tools.
A 19mm open-ended spanner fits M12 nuts and bolts, commonly used in electrical installations, distribution boards and when fitting wiring accessories. The 175mm length provides sufficient leverage while still allowing work in confined spaces.

Tools with VDE certification are intended for work on installations live up to 1000V AC; however, they do not remove the need to use other personal protective equipment. Before starting work, check the condition of the tool's insulation - any cracks, mechanical damage or signs of puncture disqualify the tool from use. Insulated tools should be stored in conditions that prevent mechanical damage and exposure to chemical substances that could degrade the insulating plastic.
Inspect the insulation visually before every use - check the handle surface for cracks, scuffing or other damage. The tool should be stored in a dry place, away from heat sources and chemical substances.
The spanner should be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Organic solvents, which may damage the insulating layer, must not be used. After working in a dusty environment, it is advisable to remove contamination from the working part to prevent it building up in the areas that contact nuts.
VDE tools have a limited service life specified by the manufacturer, or require periodic recertification at authorised laboratories. As a standard recommendation, insulated tools should be replaced after 5-10 years of intensive use, or sooner if visible damage is present.
