The KD1683 is an electric router with a 1900 W motor, designed for working wood and wood-based materials. It routes grooves, profiles, edges and holes to a depth of up to 52 mm, with variable spindle speed control between 11,000 and 30,000 rpm.
The 11,000–30,000 rpm range is divided into five steps, so the spindle speed can be matched to the material and the diameter of the router bit. Lower speeds are used for hardwoods and large bits, higher speeds for soft materials and small bits — this has a direct effect on surface finish and cutter life.
A mechanical depth stop allows the maximum cutting depth of the bit to be set precisely before work begins. Each pass of the tool therefore stops at the same depth, which is particularly important when routing grooves and housings that have to be repeated to the same dimensions.
An additional lock-on button holds the trigger in the pressed position, so the operator can hold the machine with both hands during long passes. This reduces hand fatigue when working on longer runs.
The parallel guide keeps the router at a constant distance from the edge of the workpiece — useful for routing grooves parallel to the edge of a board. The template guide allows the shape of a template to be copied, which is used for repeat cutting of holes and irregular profiles.
The router has a dust extraction port suitable for connecting the hose of a workshop dust extractor. Routing generates significant amounts of sawdust and wood dust — extracting it as you work improves visibility of the cutting line, reduces contamination of the working area and lowers the risk of the operator inhaling dust. The manufacturer recommends using a dust extractor whenever the machine is in use.

A router is used with shank-type router bits secured in a collet chuck (collet). Before buying router bits, check the shank diameter accepted by the machine's collet — the most common standards are 6 mm, 8 mm and 12 mm. This information is given in the instruction manual supplied with the machine. Matching the speed to the bit diameter and the hardness of the material produces a cleaner cut and extends tool life.
