KD1740 Telescopic Drywall Sander for Plaster and Skim Coat with LED Light
The KD1740 is an electric telescopic drywall sander designed for sanding skim coat, plaster and surfaces being prepared for painting — on both walls and ceilings. The aluminium telescopic pole with swivel head allows work at different heights without the need for scaffolding. The built-in LED lighting improves visibility of the surface being sanded, making it easier to spot unevenness.
Key features
Telescopic aluminium pole
Aluminium keeps the weight down while maintaining a rigid construction. The adjustable pole length allows ceilings to be sanded without scaffolding and low surfaces to be worked on in the same session. The pole folds in the middle, reducing the size of the tool for transport and storage.
Swivel sanding head
The head with an adjustable joint adapts the sanding angle to the slope of the surface — useful at wall-to-ceiling transitions (internal corners) and on sloping ceilings. This reduces the need to change body position and limits fatigue during longer work.
Hook-and-loop (Velcro) backing
Hook-and-loop sanding discs can be changed in seconds without tools. This makes it easy to switch abrasive grit quickly depending on the stage of the job — from initial sanding to finishing. The system is compatible with standard sanding discs of the appropriate diameter.
LED lighting and dust extraction
LEDs mounted on the head illuminate the surface being sanded, making it easier to see leftover skim coat, scratches and unevenness — particularly important when sanding ceilings, where general lighting is often insufficient. The hose for connecting a vacuum cleaner reduces the amount of dust settling on the floor and in the air.

Choosing the right abrasive
For initial sanding of skim coat, a grit of P60–P80 is usually used. Intermediate sanding is done with P100–P120 paper, and finishing with P150–P180. Six sanding sheets are supplied in the kit. When replacing discs, check that the diameter of the new disc matches the diameter of the sander's head.
Use and maintenance
Before first use, check that the telescopic pole is correctly locked at the chosen length and that the sanding disc is securely fitted to the head. The dust extraction hose should be connected to an industrial or builders' vacuum cleaner — a standard domestic vacuum cleaner may not have sufficient capacity for continuous operation.
After finishing work, clean the head and hose of any remaining gypsum dust. Gypsum dust absorbs moisture and can clog filters and clump inside the hose, so cleaning after every session extends the service life of the tool. The aluminium pole does not require lubrication, but the pivot joints should be checked periodically for mechanical play.
