MMA 250A IGBT Inverter Welder — Kraft&Dele KD1841

An MMA inverter welder with IGBT transistors, designed for welding with coated electrodes. The unit accepts electrodes from 1.6 to 4 mm and can weld carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and copper. Its weight of approx. 4 kg makes it easy to transport and use on site, including with a power generator.

Current range20–250 A
Duty cycle60% at 250 A
Electrodes1.6–4 mm

Key features

IGBT technology

IGBT transistors replace older MOSFET systems — they offer higher reliability under heavy current loads and allow a significant reduction in transformer weight. The result is a unit weighing approx. 4 kg with a welding current of up to 250 A.

PWM modulation

Pulse-width modulation (PWM) technology stabilises the arc regardless of fluctuations in the supply voltage. This translates into a consistent weld pool and repeatable weld quality, which is particularly important when welding thin components.

Digital LCD display

The display shows the current welding current value in amperes. It allows parameters to be set precisely without having to estimate values on the potentiometer scale — particularly useful when changing the electrode diameter.

Cooling and thermal protection

A built-in fan dissipates heat from the IGBT system during continuous operation. A thermostat switches the unit off if the permissible temperature is exceeded, protecting the electronics from damage and indicating that a cool-down period is required.

Welding support functions

Hot Start

When the arc is struck, the system briefly increases the welding current above the set value. This makes it easier to strike the electrode, particularly with basic electrodes or at low welding currents.

Anti Stick

If the electrode sticks to the workpiece, the system automatically reduces the current, preventing the electrode from overheating and damage to its coating. The electrode can be pulled free without switching the welder off.

Arc Force

The dynamic arc stabilisation system adjusts the welding current according to the arc length. It prevents the arc from going out when it is excessively long and reduces spatter when the arc is too short.

Duty cycle — what it means in practice

A duty cycle of 60% at 250 A means that the unit can weld for 6 minutes in every 10-minute period without exceeding the permissible temperature. At lower currents the duty cycle is longer. This parameter is important when planning work that requires long weld runs.

Applications

  • Welding carbon and structural steel
  • Welding alloy and stainless steel
  • Welding copper and its alloys
  • Welding work in the field with a power generator
  • Repairs to metal structures, fences and gates
  • Welding profiles and pipes in various positions
  • Workshop tasks requiring up to 250 A

Generator compatibility

The KD1841 welder can be powered from a generator. When choosing a generator, the unit's power input (6509 W) and power factor of 0.93 must be taken into account. A generator output of at least 8–9 kVA is recommended to ensure stable operation at full welding current.
