Lead-Free Solder 0.5mm 100g YATO 76850

Lead-free solder for soldering electronic components. Tin-copper alloy S-Sn99.3 Cu0.7 in the form of 0.5mm diameter wire with a built-in flux core, compliant with RoHS environmental standards.

Wire diameter0.5 mm
Net weight100 g
Alloy compositionS-Sn99.3 Cu0.7
Operating temperature250-350°C

Technical characteristics of the solder

Lead-free alloy S-Sn99.3 Cu0.7

The composition contains 99.3% tin and 0.7% copper. The addition of copper improves the mechanical properties of the soldered joint and increases corrosion resistance. The alloy meets the requirements of the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, eliminating toxic tin-lead from the soldering process.

0.5mm wire diameter

The precise diameter allows controlled dispensing of solder when soldering miniature SMD and through-hole components. The thin wire ensures accuracy when working with densely spaced tracks on PCBs and helps avoid excess solder at the joint.

Temperature range 250-350°C

The melting point of lead-free alloy is higher than that of traditional leaded alloys. The recommended soldering iron tip operating range of 250-350°C ensures the alloy flows correctly without overheating components. Lower temperatures can cause cold solder joints; higher temperatures can damage components.

Built-in flux

The solder contains a flux core which, during soldering, removes oxides from metal surfaces and improves wetting. It eliminates the need to apply solder paste separately in most standard electronic applications.

Applications of lead-free solder

  • Soldering SMD components on printed circuit boards in consumer electronics
  • Assembly and repair of integrated circuits in telecommunications equipment
  • Servicing industrial electronics requiring RoHS compliance
  • Soldering connections in automotive electronics modules
  • Prototyping and small-batch PCB production
  • Repair of household appliances with electronic components
  • Assembly of hobbyist and educational electronic kits
  • Servicing medical devices with lead-free requirements

Why soldering temperature matters

Lead-free alloys require higher temperatures than traditional leaded solders (183°C for Sn63Pb37). A temperature of 250-350°C ensures the S-Sn99.3 Cu0.7 alloy flows correctly and forms durable intermetallic bonds. Too low a temperature results in dull, weak solder joints. Before starting work, check the soldering iron's temperature adjustment range.

Use and storage

Solder should be stored in a dry place in its original packaging, protected from moisture. The flux contained in solder wire can dry out over time on contact with air, so it is worth protecting the end of the wire after use.

When soldering, the use of fume extraction or local ventilation is recommended. Although lead-free solder is safer than leaded alloys, flux fumes can irritate the respiratory tract. Wash your hands after finishing work.

Soldering iron tips wear out faster when working with lead-free alloys due to the higher operating temperature. Regular cleaning of the tip with a sponge or brass wool and tinning extend its service life.

RoHS Directive compliance

The RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC restricts the use of lead in electrical and electronic equipment placed on the European Union market. S-Sn99.3 Cu0.7 lead-free solder meets these requirements, which makes it mandatory in commercial electronics production and recommended for repairs of equipment covered by the standard.
