T10 tool steel blade
T10 carbon steel hardened to 38–40 HRC (Rockwell scale) provides resistance to abrasion and deformation. The 4 mm thickness allows heavy loads to be carried without any risk of bending. The 190 mm working length makes it possible to grip stumps of various diameters effectively.
Cut teeth on the blade
Special cuts on the blade surface increase grip on timber, particularly when working with frozen or icy stumps. The toothed structure stops the tool from slipping during pulling.

HRC hardness and what it means
A hardness of 38–40 HRC (Rockwell C scale) represents an optimum compromise between hardness and resistance to cracking. The blade stays sharp on contact with timber and stones while not being excessively brittle. Values below 35 HRC could cause rapid blunting; above 45 HRC, an increased risk of cracking on impact.
Use and maintenance
Before starting work, check the condition of the rivets and make sure there is no play in the joint between blade and shaft. The hook should be driven into the stump at an angle of about 45 degrees, making use of natural cracks or cuts made beforehand. After finishing work, clean resin and dirt from the blade and apply anti-corrosion protection.
The aluminium shaft needs protection from knocks, which can cause dents. Check the lacquered surface periodically for damage to the coating — touch up with anti-corrosion paint if necessary. The blade can be sharpened with a flat file, keeping the original sharpening angle.
Safety at work
When pulling stumps, keep a stable body position and avoid sudden jerks. The curved hook on the shaft stops the tool from slipping out of the hand, but work gloves are recommended. When working with frozen timber, allow for the increased hardness of the material and adjust the force of your blows.
