The magnetic plumb bob is a measuring tool used in construction to establish vertical lines and to check the verticality of walls and structures. The Vorel 17310 combines the functions of a traditional plumb bob with magnetic mounting, which allows stable operation on metal surfaces without the need to hold the tool.
The built-in strong neodymium magnet allows the plumb bob to be attached securely to steel and reinforced concrete elements hands-free. A useful solution when erecting steel structures, checking the verticality of columns or checking formwork. The magnet holds the tool in position even when the line is under strong tension.
The automatic line retraction mechanism eliminates tangling and makes the tool easier to transport. The 6-metre length is sufficient for standard residential storey heights and for most finishing work. The line is made from a durable material resistant to abrasion and moisture.
The sharp pointed tip allows the plumb bob to be driven into timber structural elements, formwork boards or floor joists. A useful solution for carpentry work, roof truss installation or formwork construction, where there are no metal surfaces for the magnet to grip.
The 400 g plumb weight provides sufficient gravitational force for the bob to settle quickly and for accurate vertical alignment. This weight is sufficient for outdoor work in moderate wind, while not overloading the mountings.
| Model | 17310 |
| Brand | Vorel |
| Plumb weight | 400 g |
| Line length | 6 m |
| Line type | Self-retracting |
| Mounting system | Neodymium magnet, spike, hanging hole |
| Plumb material | Metal with anti-corrosion coating |
| Application | Bricklaying, structural and finishing work |
On metal surfaces, place the magnet against the structural element and let the bob settle. On timber, drive the spike into the chosen point. For concrete walls, use the hanging hole to hang the tool on a previously driven nail. After each use, allow the line to retract automatically; do not pull sharply on the weight.
Regularly check the condition of the line for wear and damage. Protect the retraction mechanism from building site contamination – if necessary, wipe the housing clean with a dry cloth. Keep the magnet clean, removing metal swarf that could weaken its holding force. Store the tool in a dry place to prevent corrosion of metal parts.
