Use and maintenance
Filling the reservoir
Before first use, fill the reservoir with grease of a suitable consistency (usually NLGI 2-3). The grease can be loaded straight from the container or with a spatula. It is important to bleed air from the system by pumping the piston several times before connecting the gun to a grease nipple.
Greasing technique
Clean any dirt from the grease nipple before greasing. Press the coupler firmly onto the nipple and pump the lever until fresh grease begins to emerge from the joint. This indicates that the lubrication point is full and that the old grease and contaminants have been displaced.
Cleaning and storage
After use, wipe residual grease from the coupler. Store the grease gun in a dry place away from heat sources. During longer periods out of use, protect the piston from dried grease by pumping it several times.
