A hand tool for forming conical joint flares in steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metal and plastic tubes. It handles seven tube diameters from 5 to 19 mm, producing precise 90° flares.
The flaring tool handles tubes with diameters of 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 19 mm. This removes the need for separate tools for each size, cutting workshop equipment costs and speeding up work on installations with pipes of different diameters.
The tool works with steel, aluminium, copper and other non-ferrous metal tubes as well as plastics. This makes it possible to produce flares in plumbing, air conditioning, brake and pneumatic systems without having to change equipment.
A flare angle of exactly 90° ensures the seal is seated correctly and the joint is leak-tight. The conical shape of the flare increases the contact area with the fitting, giving the joint greater mechanical strength.
Manual operation gives full control over the force and speed of the flaring. The operator can adjust the intensity to suit the hardness of the material and the wall thickness, minimising the risk of cracking or over-deforming the tube.

Before starting work, clean the end of the tube of burrs and dirt. The tube must be cut square to its axis – an angled cut will prevent even flaring. Check that the wall thickness of the tube is suitable for the given diameter – a wall that is too thin may crack when the flare is formed.
The flaring tool has interchangeable dies for each of the seven diameters. Choose the die that matches the outside diameter of the tube. Using the wrong die will result in uneven flaring or damage to the tube. Before changing the die, make sure the mechanism is fully unloaded.
Place the tube in the flaring tool's clamp, leaving the length protruding that is needed to form the flare. Tighten the clamp so the tube is held securely. Turn the feed screw gradually, checking the progress of the flare. Excessive force in a single movement can crack the material, particularly with aluminium and plastic tubes.
After work, clean all components of metal swarf and dust. Apply a thin film of machine oil to the threads and working surfaces of the dies to prevent corrosion and keep the mechanism running smoothly. Store the flaring tool in a dry place. Check the condition of the threads periodically – worn threads reduce precision and can lead to uneven flaring.
