A mason's line made from polypropylene yarn with a diameter of 2.0 mm and a length of 50 metres. Designed for setting out horizontal and vertical lines during bricklaying and tiling work and for surveying measurements on construction sites.
The material, braided on a braiding machine, provides increased resistance to tearing and abrasion. The braided structure prevents the ends from fraying and maintains a consistent cross-section along the entire length of the line.
The 2.0 mm thickness is a compromise between line visibility and strength. A line of this diameter remains clearly visible from several metres away while retaining resistance to the loads involved in tensioning.
The minimal stretch of polypropylene fibres allows lines to be set out precisely, without sag or droop. Once tensioned, the line stays straight, which matters when checking level and plumb.
Polypropylene is resistant to moisture, oils, petrol and UV radiation. The line retains its mechanical properties when in contact with mortar and adhesives and when used outdoors.

Before tensioning the line, make sure that the fixing points are stable and at the correct height. The line is tensioned by hand with enough force to produce a straight line without sag. For longer runs (over 10 m), intermediate support points are recommended. When work is finished, the line should be wound into a loose hank, avoiding tight knots.
The line should be stored in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight. Despite the UV resistance of polypropylene, prolonged storage in sunny locations may accelerate the ageing of the material. Before winding, the line should be cleaned of any mortar residue and deposits.
