Use and maintenance
Choosing the right blade
A 255 mm blade should be matched to the type of material being cut. For solid wood, blades with fewer teeth (24–40) are used, which speeds up the cut. For laminates and sheet materials, blades with more teeth (60–80) are recommended – they produce cleaner edges and minimise chipping of the surface layer.
Securing the workpiece
Material clamps (vices, hold-down clamps) prevent the workpiece from shifting during the cut. The material should be pressed against the rear fence and the base plate, which guarantees a square and accurate cut. Long workpieces require additional support.
Keeping the tool clean
The dust bag limits the spread of dust in the room, but does not eliminate it entirely. Regularly cleaning accumulated chips from the mitre mechanism and guides extends the service life of the tool and maintains the precision of the angle settings. The mitre scale needs to be protected from contamination.
