How to check that a spanner matches a nut
The size of an open-ended spanner corresponds to the width across the flats of the nut or bolt head, measured between opposite edges. If in doubt, use a vernier calliper to measure the actual size of the nut.
Use and maintenance
Open-ended spanners should be used for their intended purpose – solely for tightening and loosening nuts and bolts. Avoid using extension bars on the handle, which can exceed the permissible torque and damage the tool. Do not use the spanner as a lever, a hammer or an impact tool.
