Pneumatic die shear for the precise cutting of steel sheet using a punch that travels within a die. The tool is designed for cutting complex shapes without deforming the material edge, and is used in automotive and sheet metal workshops.
The punch travelling within the die eliminates bending of the material edge during cutting. This design makes it possible to produce precise cut-outs with complex contours while keeping the sheet flat around the cut line.
The aluminium body combines a weight of 0.8 kg with mechanical strength. Its compact dimensions allow work in confined spaces, typical of vehicle body interiors and hard-to-reach structural joints.
A frequency of 3500 cuts per minute at a cutting width of 5.5 mm ensures that long cuts are made quickly. An air consumption of 113 l/min allows the tool to be used with workshop compressors of average output.
The pneumatic drive generates the cutting force without the operator having to apply pressure. The tool simply has to be guided along the intended cut line, which reduces fatigue during prolonged work.

The tool requires a compressor with a minimum output of 113 l/min at a working pressure of 0.62 MPa (6.2 bar). Piston or screw compressors with a real output of at least 150 l/min are recommended, allowing for pressure drops in the system. The length of the air hose should not exceed 10 metres with a minimum internal diameter of 8 mm.
An air preparation unit consisting of a filter, pressure regulator and mist lubricator should be installed before the tool connector. The filter removes moisture and contaminants that could damage the shear mechanism. The lubricator provides continuous lubrication of the moving parts with pneumatic oil of SAE 10 viscosity.
Before starting work, check the condition of the punch blade and the die housing. Worn or damaged cutting components increase the cutting width and reduce the quality of the edge. The blade must be replaced once it has become visibly blunt or if nicks appear.
During cutting, guide the tool with a steady motion along the marked line, avoiding sudden changes of direction. Excessive tilting of the shear relative to the plane of the sheet may cause the punch to jam or the die housing to crack.
After finishing work, blow the pneumatic system through with a short burst of air and introduce a few drops of pneumatic oil through the air inlet. Storing the tool at temperatures above 0°C prevents moisture from condensing in the mechanism.
