An analogue pressure gauge with a 40' (1/4 inch) thread, designed for fitting to piston compressors with an air receiver capacity of 24-50 litres. It provides a direct reading of the working pressure in the pneumatic system.

Before buying, check the thread size on your compressor. A 40' (1/4") thread is the standard size on small compressors. If in doubt, measure the outside diameter of the thread - for 1/4" it is approximately 13.2 mm. Also make sure that the measuring range of the gauge matches the maximum working pressure of the compressor.
The gauge is fitted directly into the threaded port in the air receiver body or in the compressor head. Before installation, make sure that the air receiver is fully depressurised - the pressure must be 0 bar. Seal the thread with PTFE tape or a seal, wrapping it 3-4 turns in the direction in which the gauge is screwed in.
When tightening, use a spanner of the correct size and avoid excessive force, which could damage the thread or the gauge casing. After fitting and starting the compressor, check the joint for leaks - no air escaping confirms that the installation is correct.
A mechanical gauge requires no special maintenance. Periodically check the threaded joint for leaks and the dial for legibility. If the lens mists up from the inside or there is visible mechanical damage, the gauge should be replaced. The gauge casing must not be opened - repairing the internal components is not economically viable.
