A general-purpose axe with a 1250 g head and a 24-inch wooden handle. The head is made from high-carbon steel, hardened and tempered to increase its resistance to mechanical damage.
The head is hardened and tempered — the process increases the hardness of the blade while retaining its toughness, which prevents brittleness and cracking on impact. The blade holds its cutting edge for longer than untreated steel.
The weight of the head provides sufficient striking force for splitting medium and large diameter logs. Combined with a 635 mm handle, it creates effective leverage that allows efficient working without excessive strain on the user.
Natural wood absorbs vibration better than synthetic materials. The contoured profile improves grip and stops the tool slipping from the hand during use. The 24-inch (635 mm) length provides the right torque for a 1250 g head.
A rubber guard protects the cutting edge during storage and transport and prevents accidental cuts. The rubber material does not damage the blade and is easy to fit.
| Model | G72213 |
| Head weight | 1250 g |
| Overall length | 635 mm (24") |
| Head material | High-carbon steel, hardened and tempered |
| Handle material | Contoured wood |
| Blade protection | Rubber guard |
| Sharpenable | Yes |
High-carbon steel allows regular sharpening with a file or whetstone. Keep the original edge angle (usually 25–30 degrees for general-purpose axes). After sharpening, remove any burrs with a fine-grained whetstone.
The wooden handle needs periodic treatment with linseed oil or specialist wood treatments. This protects it against moisture and cracking. Before use, check that the head is properly seated — a loose joint can lead to accidents.
Store the tool in a dry place with the blade guard fitted. Avoid contact with moisture, which can cause the steel to corrode and the wood to degrade. After working in damp conditions, wipe and dry the tool before putting it away.
