Ratchet Crimping Tool for Bootlace Ferrules YT-23051 YATO

A ratchet crimping tool designed for crimping bootlace ferrules. The body is made from oxidised carbon steel and the four-indent crimp die from chrome vanadium steel (CrV), which ensures the tool withstands heavy use.

Tool features

Ratchet mechanism

The ratchet mechanism locks the tool during crimping and releases it only once the crimp is fully closed. This eliminates the risk of an under-crimped ferrule, which could result in an unreliable electrical connection or the conductor pulling out.

Four-indent crimp die

The crimp die consists of four segments that compress the ferrule evenly from all sides at the same time. The result is a symmetrical, round crimp on the ferrule without deforming it, as required for connections in distribution boards and industrial installations.

Oxidised carbon steel

The tool body is made from carbon steel and then given a chemical oxidisation treatment. The resulting iron oxide layer protects the surface against corrosion and moisture without the need for additional paint coatings.

CrV steel crimp die

The crimp die components are made from chrome vanadium steel, which offers greater hardness and resistance to abrasion than standard tool steel. This helps the crimp die retain its geometry over a long service life.

Applications

  • Crimping bootlace ferrules in electrical distribution boards
  • Installing electrical systems in industrial and construction environments
  • Preparing conductors for connection in modular devices (circuit breakers, relays)
  • Electrical work on PLCs and automation cabinets
  • Making connections in low-voltage and low-current installations
  • Servicing and upgrading existing electrical installations

Choosing the right ferrule size

Before use, make sure that the size of the crimp die in the tool matches the cross-section of the ferrules being used. Ferrules are selected to match the conductor cross-section (e.g. 0.5 mm², 1.5 mm², 2.5 mm², 4 mm²). Using a ferrule of the wrong size can result in an incorrect crimp and reduce the quality of the electrical connection.
