How the ratchet mechanism works
The ratchet allows continuous tightening or loosening without having to take the tool off the screw. When turned in one direction, the mechanism transmits torque, while in the opposite direction it freewheels. This makes it possible to carry out repeated screwing operations quickly, without tiring repositioning of the handle. The lock function disengages the ratchet mechanism, turning the tool into a standard screwdriver.
Use and maintenance
Before starting work, select the correct bit for the type and size of screw. Poor fit can damage the screw head or the bit itself. Once the bit has been selected, seat it firmly in the screwdriver holder.
The direction selector is set before the operation begins. The "right" position is used for tightening, "left" for loosening, and the middle position locks the mechanism. Do not change the selector while the tool is under load.
When work is finished, place all elements in their dedicated places in the case. Regularly checking that the set is complete helps avoid finding a needed tip missing. Bits should be checked periodically for wear – damaged tips can damage screws.
The ratchet mechanism does not require lubrication under normal conditions of use. If it becomes dirty, the external parts can be cleaned with a dry brush. Avoid immersing the tool in water or solvents.
