Features of the YT-21742 Crimping Jaws

Compatibility with the YT-21735 Crimping Tool

The jaws are designed specifically for use with the YATO YT-21735 hydraulic crimping tool. Precise dimensional matching ensures a secure fit and eliminates play during crimping, which results in even distribution of force around the circumference of the fitting.

Hardened 40Cr Steel

40Cr is a chrome steel with a carbon content of 0.4% and 1% chromium, which after hardening reaches a hardness of 50-55 HRC. The hardening process increases resistance to wear and deformation, which extends the service life of the jaws under intensive use on construction sites.

U Profile for 25 mm PEX-AL-PEX Pipes

The jaws have an internal U-shaped profile, matched to U type fittings used in PEX-AL-PEX systems. The 25 mm working diameter corresponds to standard fittings used in installations with a flow rate of up to 2.5 m³/h.

Interchangeable Design

The interchangeable design allows the crimping tool to be adapted quickly to different pipe diameters without the need to purchase a separate tool. Changing the jaws takes only a matter of seconds, which matters when working with installations of varying diameters.

Applications of the PEX-AL-PEX Pipe Crimping Tool Jaws

  • Installation of water supply systems in residential and public buildings
  • Installation of underfloor heating and radiator heating systems
  • Installation of domestic hot water systems in sealed circuits
  • Service and repair work on existing PEX-AL-PEX installations
  • Installation of manifolds and heating loops in boiler rooms
  • Industrial installations requiring leak-tight 25 mm pipe connections
  • Laying of pipework in collector systems

PEX-AL-PEX Pipes - System Characteristics

PEX-AL-PEX pipes have a three-layer construction: an inner layer of cross-linked polyethylene, a middle layer of aluminium (0.2-0.5 mm) and an outer layer of PEX. The aluminium layer provides shape stability and an oxygen diffusion barrier. U type fittings wrap around the outside of the pipe, and the crimp creates a durable, leak-tight mechanical connection that withstands a working pressure of up to 10 bar at a temperature of 95°C.

Use and Maintenance of the Jaws

Before starting work, check the condition of the working surfaces of the jaws - they should be free from scratches, dents or signs of corrosion that could affect the tightness of the crimp. When fitting the jaws in the crimping tool, make sure they are seated correctly in the tool's slots - play can lead to an uneven crimp and a leaking connection.

After each working day, it is advisable to clean the jaws of contamination with a brush and degrease them with a preparation that does not contain solvents aggressive to steel. Storing them in a dry place, protected from moisture, prevents surface corrosion. Periodic checking of the working dimensions makes it possible to detect wear before the crimping parameters are lost.

Checking Crimp Quality

A correctly made crimp should be even around the entire circumference of the fitting, with no visible unevenness or cracks. The depth of the indentation should match the fitting manufacturer's specification - typically 1.5-2 mm for a 25 mm diameter. After crimping, check the stability of the connection by attempting to rotate the fitting around the axis of the pipe - a correct crimp prevents any movement.
