Screw Extractors for Broken Screws, 8-Piece GEKO G30031

A professional screw extractor set made from tool steel for removing damaged threaded fasteners. The eight sizes cover a range from M3 to M50, handling most common threaded connections in mechanical engineering, automotive and industrial applications.

Technical features

Tool steel construction

High-grade steel provides the hardness and strength needed to grip and extract damaged fasteners. The material resists twisting under heavy load, which is essential with seized or corroded screws.

Left-hand cutting thread

The extractors turn in the opposite direction to tightening, so as they bite into the damaged screw it loosens of its own accord. This removes the need to apply high torque during removal.

Tapered geometry

The tapered form allows progressive biting into holes of different diameters within a single size. This ensures a secure grip even where the damaged hole is irregular.

Eight sizes in the set

The M3 to M50 range covers metric screws from small electronic components through to heavy steel structures. Each extractor handles a range of several sizes, which increases the versatility of the set.

Instructions for use

Preparing the work area

Before starting extraction, clean the surface around the damaged screw of dirt and rust. If possible, apply a penetrating fluid and wait 15-30 minutes. Where part of the screw head remains, level the surface with a file or grinder.

Drilling the pilot hole

Drill a central hole on the axis of the damaged screw using a drill bit with a diameter smaller than the thread core. The hole depth should be around 10-15 mm. Precise centring is essential for the extractor to work effectively.

Selecting the extractor size

Choose the extractor that matches the screw size according to its M designation (outside thread diameter). If in doubt, it is better to start with a smaller size to avoid enlarging the hole.

Extraction process

Seat the extractor in the drilled hole and turn it gently anticlockwise. The left-hand thread makes the extractor bite deeper while at the same time loosening the screw. Apply moderate force so as not to snap the extractor. If it resists, stop work, apply penetrating fluid again and try after 15 minutes.

Maintenance after use

Once work is finished, clean swarf from the extractors and protect them with a light film of oil. Check the condition of the cutting thread and, if damaged, take the item out of use.
