Self-adjusting mechanism

Use and maintenance
How to use the self-adjusting pliers
Before use, check that the filter diameter falls within the 60-120 mm range. The pliers are placed over the filter body and the handles are squeezed, which automatically adjusts the jaws to the diameter. Turning anticlockwise unscrews the filter. For very tight filters, it is worth applying a penetrating fluid to the thread before using the tool.
Tool maintenance
After each use, clean the pliers of oil residue with a cloth or a degreasing fluid. The self-adjusting mechanism requires periodic checks that it moves freely and, if necessary, light lubrication of the pivot points. Storing the tool in a dry place prevents corrosion of the metal parts.
Personal protective equipment
When changing oil filters, protective gloves and safety glasses to guard against oil splashes are recommended. Working with hot oil requires particular care and waiting for the engine to cool to a safe temperature.
