160 mm side cutting pliers designed for precision cutting of cable, wire and small-diameter cable rope. The tool features hardened jaws and ergonomic two-component handles that provide a secure grip during work.
Features of the side cutting pliers
160 mm working length
The 160 mm size strikes a balance between leverage and cutting precision. This length allows comfortable one-handed use while retaining enough cutting force to snip through wire up to 2–2.5 mm in diameter. Pliers of this size perform well both in the workshop and on installation work.
Hardened jaw surfaces
The surface hardening process raises the hardness of the cutting edges to approximately 58–62 HRC, which translates into a longer blade life. Hardened jaws stay sharp even after repeated cutting of harder materials such as steel wire or cable rope. This reduces how often the tool needs sharpening or replacing.
Two-component handles
The two-component construction combines a hard core with a soft non-slip outer layer. The hard core provides stability and mechanical strength, while the outer elastomer layer improves grip comfort and prevents the tool from slipping in the hand, particularly when working in damp conditions or wearing gloves.
Sturdy pliers joint

Difference between side cutters and end cutters
Side cutters (side-cutting pliers) have cutting edges set at an angle to the axis of the handles, which allows cutting in hard-to-reach places and closer to the surface. End cutters cut straight ahead, which works well for cutting thicker cable but requires more working space. 160 mm side cutters are a versatile tool for most installation and electronic work.
Use and maintenance
Before starting work, check the condition of the cutting edges and that the joint moves freely. Side cutting pliers are intended solely for cutting soft and semi-hard materials – they must not be used to cut hardened steel wire or materials harder than the jaws, as this can chip the cutting edge.
When cutting, the material should be placed perpendicular to the cutting edge, close to the pliers joint where the cutting force is greatest. Cutting at the tips of the jaws reduces efficiency and accelerates tool wear. After finishing work, wipe the jaws with a dry cloth and, if working in damp conditions, protect them with a thin film of tool oil.
The pliers joint requires periodic lubrication, especially when resistance appears during opening and closing. A drop of machine oil on the joint pin and a few movements of the handles is enough. The pliers should be stored in a dry place, ideally in a dedicated holder or tool insert, to avoid damaging the cutting edges.
