The KD1802 is a single-phase electric motor rated at 2.2 kW, designed to drive workshop machinery and industrial equipment running on a 220V mains supply. It runs at 2800 rpm and draws 13.9 A, which must be taken into account when selecting protection for the electrical installation.
A built-in thermal cut-out disconnects the power supply if the winding temperature rises excessively. It protects the motor from damage during prolonged overload or insufficient cooling.
The high rotational speed corresponds to the 2-pole design (2p=2) for a 50 Hz supply. This results in a compact construction while maintaining high output power, which is important in compressors and saws.
The motor runs from a standard single-phase supply, with no need for access to a three-phase installation. However, it requires a fuse or circuit breaker rated for the 13.9 A current draw.
The 18 kg weight indicates a cast iron or steel housing, which damps vibration and ensures stable mounting. The heavy housing translates into a lower level of vibration transmitted to the driven machine.
With a current draw of 13.9 A, the motor requires a circuit protected by a fuse or circuit breaker rated at least 16 A. A motor protection circuit breaker with an adjustable thermal trip, set close to the rated current, is recommended.

Before fitting, check: the motor shaft length (the shaft diameter is 24 mm) for selecting a coupling or pulley, the spacing of the mounting holes on the base (motor foot), the direction of rotation required by the machine, and whether the machine's required power does not exceed 2.2 kW in continuous operation. In the case of compressors, the rotational speed is also key — 2800 rpm requires the pulley ratio to be matched to the required compressor head speed.
The KD1802 electric motor must be installed in a location that ensures a free flow of cooling air around the housing. The ventilation grilles should be cleaned regularly of dust and debris, which can restrict heat dissipation and cause the thermal protection to trip frequently.
The motor bearings require periodic lubrication in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations — too infrequent lubrication results in increased temperature and noise and, consequently, a shortened service life. After each thermal protection trip, wait for the motor to cool down and establish the cause of the overload before restarting.
