The 18 mm size is standard on most cars and motorcycles. The six-point profile ensures even distribution of force across all edges of the plug, eliminating the risk of rounding and damage to the ceramic insulator.
The steel alloy with added chromium and vanadium offers increased hardness and wear resistance. The material retains its properties even under intensive workshop use, does not deform under load and does not crack with changes in temperature.

Before purchase, verify the spark plug socket size in the vehicle's technical documentation. Most modern cars use spark plugs with a 16 mm or 18 mm hex. An 18 mm socket is standard on popular Japanese and European models. If in doubt, measure the hex across the flats of the old plug with a calliper.
When using the spark plug socket, avoid applying excessive force when removing plugs, especially if they have not been changed for a long time. Seized threads require the prior application of a penetrating fluid. After each use, clean combustion deposits from the socket and protect the surface with a thin film of oil.

Engine manufacturers specify a recommended spark plug tightening torque in the range of 15-30 Nm, depending on the thread type and cylinder head design. Too little torque can lead to a leak in the combustion chamber, while excessive force risks damaging the threads in an aluminium cylinder head. When fitting with a socket, use a torque wrench or tighten by hand, monitoring the resistance.
