A complete set of four titanium-coated HSS step drill bits for drilling holes of various diameters in sheet metal and plastics. Diameter range from 4 to 39 mm in a single set.
The HSS (high-speed steel) material resists wear and keeps the cutting edges sharp. The titanium coating (TiN) further increases surface hardness, reduces friction during drilling and extends tool life by 30-50% compared with uncoated drill bits.
Each drill bit has 2 mm steps with clear markings, so holes of the required diameter can be drilled accurately without changing tools. Simply stop drilling at the appropriate step to achieve the exact size.
The standard-diameter cylindrical shank fits both keyless and keyed chucks in drills and drill drivers. It provides a secure grip and minimises runout during use, which affects the accuracy of the holes drilled.
The sturdy aluminium case protects the drill bits from mechanical damage during transport and storage. Each drill bit has its own compartment, which makes it easy to keep the set organised and to find the right size quickly.

The choice of drill bit depends on the maximum diameter of the hole you need to make. The 4-12 mm bit is suitable for smaller holes, while the 4-39 mm bit lets you drill large holes in a single pass. Always start with the smaller diameter and increase it gradually, checking the size against the markings on the drill bit.
Before starting work, mark the centre of the hole with a centre punch or a small twist drill bit to stop the conical tip from slipping. When drilling sheet metal, low speeds (300-600 rpm) and moderate pressure are recommended to avoid overheating the material and the drill bit.
Step drill bits need regular cleaning to remove swarf and dust. After finishing work, wipe the surface of the drill bit with a dry cloth and, in the case of intensive use, apply a thin layer of protective oil. The titanium coating is corrosion-resistant, but prolonged contact with moisture can damage the base steel.
Storing the bits in the original aluminium case protects the cutting edges from blunting and damage. Avoid dropping the drill bits onto hard surfaces, as impact can chip the titanium coating or damage the geometry of the cutting edges.
