The T12-BC2 soldering tip is a replaceable consumable for YATO soldering stations. Fitted with a built-in heater and temperature sensor, the YT-82496 heats up quickly and holds the temperature precisely when soldering electronics and small components.
A heater resistance of 8 ± 2 Ω ensures efficient transfer of heating power. The integrated temperature sensor allows the soldering station to control the heat precisely, which translates into stable working temperature and a repeatable soldering process.
The BC2 tip geometry with a 45° bevel measuring 2.1 mm × 2 mm × 11.5 mm in length makes it a versatile choice. The bevelled working face gives easier access to densely packed SMD components and simplifies soldering wires and connector pins.
The YT-82496 tip fits YATO soldering stations: YT-82461, YT-82462 and YT-82490. Changing the tip takes only a few seconds – once it has cooled down, simply remove the worn tip and insert a new one. An overall length of 150 mm ensures comfortable working with the station holder.
The built-in heater design shortens the time needed to reach working temperature compared with conventional tips. The thermal mass of the T12 tip helps maintain a stable temperature even when soldering larger copper areas, which minimises the risk of cold solder joints.

Before buying, make sure your soldering station accepts T12 tips. The YT-82496 fits only YATO stations: YT-82461, YT-82462, YT-82490. T12 tips from different manufacturers may differ in resistance – 8 ± 2 Ω is the standard for most stations compatible with the T12 system.
The tip should only be replaced once the soldering station has cooled down completely. The tip is removed from the holder by loosening the retaining mechanism (a screw or a clamp, depending on the station model). The new tip should be pushed in as far as it will go and the retaining element tightened. A new tip should be used for the first time at a temperature of around 300°C, applying a thin layer of solder to the end (tinning).
The service life of the T12-BC2 tip depends on how intensively it is used and on the working temperature. Working at temperatures above 400°C accelerates degradation of the tip plating. After every use, clean flux residue off the tip with a damp cellulose sponge or brass wool. Before switching the station off, it is worth applying a protective layer of solder to protect the surface from oxidation. Regular cleaning and tinning can extend the service life of the tip by as much as 50%.
