Long TORX Key T6 YT-05490 YATO
A TORX hand key in size T6 with an extended shaft, designed for use with star-socket screws and bolts. Made from chrome vanadium steel, the tool is intended for work that requires access to recessed fasteners.
Technical features of the TORX T6 key
TORX T6 profile
A six-point star profile measuring 1.70 mm across distributes torque over a larger area, minimising the risk of damage to the screw recess. The TORX system eliminates the cam-out that is typical of cross-head profiles.
Chrome vanadium steel (Cr-V)
A material that combines the hardness of chromium with the flexibility of vanadium. The addition of chromium increases resistance to corrosion and wear, while vanadium raises torsional strength. The alloy offers durability under repeated loading.
Extended working shaft
The extended-shaft design allows screws set deep in mounting recesses, technical bores and hard-to-reach assembly spaces to be reached where standard keys do not provide sufficient reach.

Compatibility and tool selection
How to check compatibility
Size T6 corresponds to star-socket screws with a 1.70 mm point-to-point spacing. Before use, make sure the key profile fits the screw recess exactly – any play can damage both the tool and the fastener. The TORX system is not compatible with Pentalobe, Tri-Wing or Pozidriv profiles.
The difference between TORX and TORX Plus
The TORX Plus standard (marked IP instead of T) has a modified profile with shallower notches between the points. A standard TORX T6 key should not be used on TORX Plus IP6 screws, as the geometric differences can damage the recess at higher torques.
Use and maintenance
Before starting work, check the key profile for signs of wear – smoothed or rounded edges on the star points reduce the effectiveness of torque transmission. The key should be inserted perpendicular to the screw axis, to the full depth of the recess.
After use in damp conditions or contact with corrosive substances, the tool should be cleaned and protected with a thin layer of maintenance oil. Chrome vanadium steel offers good corrosion resistance, but prolonged storage in a damp environment can lead to surface oxidation.
The key must not be used as a lever or extended with additional items – exceeding the permissible torque can permanently deform the tool or snap the shaft. For seized screws, apply penetrating fluid and increase force gradually.
