How to check the thread size on your tap
A 1/2" thread has an outside diameter of approximately 21 mm, while a 3/4" thread is approximately 26 mm. The thread diameter can be measured with a vernier calliper or compared with a nut of a known size. Most outdoor taps in Poland have a 3/4" thread, while indoor taps are often 1/2".
Use and maintenance
Before first use, check that the tap thread is clean and remove any debris. The connector is screwed onto the tap thread by hand – too much force can damage the washers. After the season, before the frosts, disconnect the connector and dry it, which prevents cracking caused by freezing water.
If a leak is found, check the condition of the washer in the connector. Brass does not require special maintenance, but periodic cleaning of limescale deposits extends the life of the quick-release mechanism. Vinegar solution or descaler can be used for cleaning.
