The taper punch is a precision workshop tool designed for driving out small mechanical components and for controlled nail setting in hard-to-reach places. Model YT-47152 features a tapered tip of 2.0 mm diameter made from CrV 6150 chrome vanadium steel.
A precisely machined tapered tip of 2.0 mm diameter enables work on small mechanical components. The tapered shape applies force gradually, which minimises the risk of damaging the parts being driven out or the surrounding material.
Once hardened, CrV 6150 (chrome vanadium) reaches a hardness of 50-55 HRC, which gives resistance to plastic deformation during repeated impacts. The vanadium content increases the wear resistance of the working tip.
The hexagonal profile prevents the tool from rotating in the hand during use. The 9.4 mm size allows the tool to be gripped with an open-ended spanner where extra force or precise angle setting is required.
The blackening process (oxidation) creates a layer of iron oxides that protects against atmospheric corrosion. The matt surface reduces glare during precision work and makes the tool easier to identify in a set.

When driving out components, keep the axis of the punch perpendicular to the work surface. Hammer blows should be controlled - excessive force may deform the tip or damage the workpiece. For seized components, apply penetrating oil before starting work.
After use, clean the punch of dirt and material residue. The blackened surface can be protected with a thin film of tool oil. Storing in a dry place prevents corrosion. Check the condition of the tip regularly - a worn or deformed tip needs to be reconditioned by grinding or the tool replaced.
