S3 category protective footwear with a composite toe cap and penetration-resistant midsole, designed for industrial and construction work. Complies with EN ISO 20345:2011.
Technical features
Mechanical protection from the composite toe cap
The composite toe cap withstands impacts of up to 200 J and compression loads of up to 15 kN. Lighter than steel, it does not conduct cold and does not trigger metal detectors. It protects the toes against falling objects weighing up to 20 kg from a height of 1 metre.
1100 N penetration-resistant midsole
The plastic insert in the sole prevents sharp objects from penetrating the foot with a force of up to 1100 N. Its flexible construction does not restrict the foot's flexing while walking. A mandatory component of S3 category footwear for work in areas with nails, metal swarf and sharp debris.
Two-component PU/rubber SRC sole
The lower rubber layer provides grip, while the upper polyurethane (PU) layer absorbs impacts and reduces foot fatigue. The SRC marking confirms slip resistance on ceramic with detergent (SRA) and steel with glycerol (SRB). Resistant to oils, petrol and industrial chemicals.
Antistatic properties
The sole dissipates electrostatic charge, protecting against electric shock and sparking in explosive atmospheres. Electrical resistance is within the standard range for antistatic footwear. Do not use in locations requiring full electrical insulation.

S3 category — what it means
S3 category footwear combines the features of S1 (closed heel, antistatic properties, shock absorption) and S2 (resistance to water absorption) with additional elements: a penetration-resistant midsole and a profiled sole. Designed for work in wet conditions and in areas with sharp objects and uneven ground. It does not provide full waterproofing — the S5 category is required for complete protection against water.
Use and maintenance
Before first use, check the condition of the toe cap and penetration-resistant midsole. Lacing should be adjusted to the anatomy of the foot — the boots should stabilise the ankle without pinching. The close-fitting construction of the upper limits water absorption but is not a complete barrier — under conditions of total immersion, water may penetrate through the lacing.
Clean the leather upper with a damp cloth; avoid soaking it in water. After working in wet conditions, dry the footwear at room temperature with the insoles removed, away from radiators. Regular leather care with impregnating agents extends the life of the footwear and preserves its hydrophobic properties. Replace the footwear if the toe cap, sole or penetration-resistant midsole is damaged — continued use does not guarantee protection compliant with the standard.
Size selection
Size 43 corresponds to a foot length of 27.7 cm. The insole measures 28.4 cm, which provides 7 mm of clearance in front of the toes. When choosing a size, allow for the thickness of work socks — the foot should not touch the front of the footwear when walking downstairs. Footwear that is too tight restricts circulation, while footwear that is too loose causes chafing and reduces stability.
