GEKO Protective Tarpaulin 6 x 8 m Green 80 g/m²
A general-purpose polypropylene tarpaulin with polyethylene lamination on both sides. The three-layer construction delivers waterproofing and mechanical strength while keeping the material lightweight.
Technical features
Three-layer construction
A woven polypropylene core coated with polyethylene on both sides. This combination pairs the mechanical strength of the PP fibres with the waterproofing of the PE laminate, while also preventing water from seeping through the fabric structure.
Rope-reinforced hems
The tarpaulin edges are protected by a synthetic cord inserted into the hem. The reinforcement distributes the load at the fixing points and protects the edges from tearing during installation or in strong wind.
Aluminium fixing eyelets
Metal eyelets spaced every 1 metre around the perimeter allow secure fixing with ropes or hooks. Aluminium does not rust, which keeps the fixing points durable during prolonged outdoor use.
Weather resistance
The polyethylene protects against water and moisture, while added fungistatic agents prevent the growth of mould and fungi. The surface makes it easy to remove dirt with water or a pressure washer.

Weight describes the mass of material per square metre of surface. Tarpaulins of 80 g/m² fall into the light, general-purpose category. They are strong enough for typical protective applications while remaining easy to handle and transport. For intensive use or prolonged exposure, consider higher weights (120–200 g/m²).
Use and maintenance
Installation
Before unfolding the tarpaulin, check that the surface beneath is free of sharp objects that could damage the material. Spread the tarpaulin evenly and secure it through the eyelets, starting at the corners and then fixing the intermediate points. Use ropes or hooks with rubber protection to avoid stress concentrations. For longer-term installation, leave a little slack — the material may shrink or stretch slightly with changes in temperature.
Cleaning
Remove dirt with water and a mild neutral detergent. A pressure washer may be used at low pressure. Avoid chemical agents containing organic solvents, which can weaken the polyethylene laminate. Before folding, make sure the tarpaulin is completely dry to prevent mould growth in storage.
Storage
Store in a dry place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Fold loosely or roll onto a tube, avoiding sharp creases that can weaken the structure of the material. Do not store at temperatures below -15°C — polyethylene can become brittle.
