A three-leg puller is a specialist mechanical tool designed for removing components mounted on shafts, such as bearings, gears, bushes and hubs. The YATO YT-2520 model, with a 100 mm leg spread, is a versatile solution for service and repair work.
Three legs spaced 120 degrees apart distribute the force evenly around the circumference of the component being removed. This minimises the risk of damage to the part and allows bearings and gears to be pulled safely without distortion.
A parameter defining the maximum diameter of the component that the puller's legs can grip. A 100 mm spread allows work on bearings and hubs with an outside diameter of up to around 90-95 mm, which covers typical automotive and workshop applications.
The material ensures resistance to deformation when high pulling forces are applied. Tool steel retains its mechanical properties even under loads exceeding 1 tonne, which is standard for professional mechanical pullers.
The tool's small size allows work in the confined spaces typical of gearbox, drivetrain and engine assembly interiors. The puller fits into places that are out of reach for larger two-leg models.

Before use, check the condition of the legs and the centre bolt. The legs should be set symmetrically about the axis of the puller. Clean any contamination from the gripping surfaces of the legs, as this could cause slipping during use.
Position the puller's legs under the collar of the component being removed, ensuring an even grip around the full circumference. Tighten the centre bolt gradually, checking the alignment of the tool. For bearings, pre-heating the housing is recommended, as this makes removal easier.
After use, clean the thread of the centre bolt and the contact points of the legs. Protect metal surfaces with a thin film of protective oil to prevent corrosion. Storing the tool in a dry place extends its service life.
Wear safety goggles when using the puller, as there is a risk of metal fragments. Never exceed the tool's rated load or use extension bars on the spanner. The legs must be correctly hooked under the component to prevent them slipping off under load.
