The VOREL 48070 right-cut tin snips are a hand tool designed for precise cutting of steel sheet up to 1.2 mm thick. The 250 mm length provides adequate leverage, making it possible to cut curves and straight cuts in a rightward direction.
Right-cut snips let you cut right-hand curves and straight cuts. The lower blade stays flat against the material, so you can guide the tool along the cutting line while keeping it in view. They are used for cutting out holes and trimming edges on the right-hand side.
An overall length of 250 mm is the standard for hand tin snips and strikes a balance between leverage and manoeuvrability. It allows efficient cutting without excessive hand fatigue while maintaining control over precision.
This figure defines the maximum thickness of steel sheet the snips can cut while keeping the edge clean. With softer metals (aluminium, copper) the range may be slightly higher. Exceeding the thickness deforms the blades and reduces cut quality.
The "profi" designation indicates a reinforced construction and materials suited to intensive use. Blades made from hardened tool steel give the cutting edge a longer service life than standard snips.

Right-cut, left-cut and straight-cut snips differ in the arrangement of their blades. Right-cut – lower blade on the right, used for right-hand curves. Left-cut – lower blade on the left, for left-hand curves. Straight-cut – symmetrical blades, for straight cuts. For professional use, it is advisable to have a set of all three types.
Before starting work, check the play in the pivot – excessive play crushes the material instead of cutting it. The play is adjusted by tightening the bolt that joins the arms. When cutting, open the snips over the full length of the blades, which ensures even wear of the cutting edges.
Cutting sheet thicker than the stated 1.2 mm overloads the mechanism and permanently deforms the blades. After use, remove metal swarf from the blade surfaces and apply a thin layer of protective oil to the cutting edges.
The blades can be sharpened with a diamond file or on a grinder, keeping the original sharpening angle (usually 80–85 degrees). An angle that is too acute blunts quickly; too shallow an angle crushes the material. Sharpen from the outer side of the blades, without touching the inner surfaces.
