How to use trim removal tools
Before starting removal, identify the type of fasteners. Insert the trim tool between the joined components at an angle of approximately 30 degrees, then gently increase pressure, using the profile of the tool as a lever. With push-fit clips, it is best to work from the edge of the component, gradually releasing each fastening point in turn.
Use and maintenance
Once work is complete, it is worth cleaning any adhesive or grease residue from the tools. Hardened nylon is resistant to most automotive solvents, but prolonged contact with aggressive chemicals should be avoided. Storing the tools in a dry place prevents the material from deforming.
When working, adjust the pressure to suit the type of component being removed. Prying too forcefully can break a clip or crack a plastic housing. For stubborn fasteners, apply a penetrating fluid and wait a few minutes before trying again.
