Twist drill bit made from HSS 4341 high-speed steel with a titanium nitride coating, designed for drilling holes in metal and hard-to-machine materials. The DIN 338-compliant design makes it suitable for use in both bench drills and hand drills.
The black and gold coating increases the surface hardness of the drill bit and reduces friction. The result: higher cutting speeds, less heat build-up in the tool and a cutting edge life extended by up to 300% compared with uncoated drill bits.
The design features two central cutting edges ground at 135° and removes the need for centre punching. The drill bit self-centres on the workpiece surface, which shortens working time and improves hole accuracy.
The ground spiral with a suitably matched pitch carries swarf up and out of the hole, preventing the drill bit from clogging. This is particularly important when drilling deep holes, where efficient swarf removal is essential.
A high-speed steel with an alloy composition containing tungsten, molybdenum and cobalt. It retains its hardness and strength even at temperatures of up to 600°C, which allows harder metals to be worked without the cutting edge losing its sharpness.

For mild steel, the recommended speed is 1800-2200 rpm (depending on the drill's power output). For stainless steel: 1200-1500 rpm. Using a coolant (emulsion or cutting oil) extends the drill bit's life and improves hole quality.
After use, remove swarf with compressed air or a brush. Store in a dry place in the original packaging. Avoid contact with moisture – the TiN coating is corrosion-resistant, but the HSS steel core needs protection from moisture.
The drill bit can be sharpened on a drill bit sharpener while maintaining the 135° angle. Avoid overheating the cutting edge during sharpening – temperatures above 600°C can damage the structure of the HSS steel and reduce its hardness.
