A measuring tool for accurately determining valve clearances, spark plug gaps and clearances between mechanical components. The set of 13 blades in a range of thicknesses makes it versatile for diagnosing and adjusting internal combustion engines.
Key features of the blade feeler gauge
Measuring range 0.05-1 mm
A set of 13 blades in different thicknesses allows gaps to be measured from a microscopic 0.05 mm (50 microns) up to 1 mm. This range covers the typical valve clearances found in most petrol and diesel engines, as well as standard spark plug electrode gaps.
Stainless steel construction
Made from corrosion-resistant steel, the blades retain their dimensional accuracy even with frequent contact with engine oils and operating fluids. The material resists mechanical deformation when inserted into narrow gaps.
Blade dimensions 10.2 x 99.8 mm
A length of almost 10 cm gives access to deeply recessed valves in multi-valve cylinder heads. The 10.2 mm width provides stability during measurement and prevents the thinner blades from bending.
Folding design

How to measure valve clearance correctly
Measurements should be taken with the engine cold (at the temperature specified by the vehicle manufacturer). A blade of the correct thickness should slide between the cam follower and the camshaft lobe with slight resistance. If the blade slides through too easily, or not at all, the clearance needs adjusting by replacing the shims or adjusting the screw.
Feeler gauge maintenance
After use, wipe the blades clean of oil and dirt with a soft cloth. Applying a thin coat of protective oil from time to time prevents corrosion. Avoid dropping the tool – impacts can cause distortion that affects measurement accuracy.
