VOREL 60930 Flat & Phillips Screwdriver

A double-ended screwdriver with a flat tip and a Phillips PH3 (R-3) cross-head tip. The tool combines the functions of two screwdrivers in one, removing the need to change tools when working with different types of screw.

Features of the double-ended screwdriver

Double-ended design

The screwdriver has two working tips at opposite ends of the handle. This allows a quick switch between flat-head and Phillips screws without having to reach for a second tool. A particularly useful solution for assembly work that calls for both types of screw.

PH3 Phillips tip

The PH3 designation (Phillips No. 3) indicates the size of the cross-head tip. It is one of the larger sizes in the Phillips standard and is used for screws with a diameter of 5-7 mm. This tip delivers sufficient torque for assembly work requiring greater tightening force.

Tool steel tips

Working tips made from tool steel offer suitable hardness and wear resistance. The material holds its groove shape through repeated use, preventing the wear and deformation that could otherwise damage the screw recesses.

Ergonomic handle

The handle, designed with ergonomics in mind, provides a stable grip when transmitting torque. The shape and surface material minimise hand fatigue during longer assembly work and reduce the risk of the tool slipping.

Choosing the right Phillips tip size

The Phillips standard covers five main sizes: PH0, PH1, PH2, PH3 and PH4. The PH3 size is used for screws with a diameter of 5-7 mm, commonly found in wooden and metal constructions and when fitting larger components. Using the correct tip size prevents damage to the screw recess and ensures full transmission of torque.

Use and maintenance

Before starting work, check that the screwdriver tip matches the type and size of the screw. The wrong choice can damage the screw recess or wear out the tool tip. When driving a screw, apply suitable axial pressure and keep the screwdriver perpendicular to the screw surface.

After finishing work, clean the tips of any dirt and dust. Store the tool in a dry place, protecting it from moisture, which can cause the steel to corrode. Checking the condition of the tips regularly allows early detection of wear and prevents damage to the parts being joined.

Differences between cross-head standards

There are two main cross-head screw standards on the market: Phillips (PH) and Pozidriv (PZ). The Phillips standard has grooves that taper to a sharp angle, while Pozidriv has additional shallow grooves between the main ones. Using a Phillips screwdriver on Pozidriv screws, or vice versa, can damage the screw recess, so it is important to identify the type of screw before starting work.
