EVA foam as a cushioning material
Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) is characterised by low density and elasticity, which allows pressure on the knee joints to be spread effectively. The material retains its cushioning properties across a wide temperature range and does not absorb moisture.
Protection against pressure and injury
The cushioning layer reduces the load on the knee joints when working on hard surfaces such as concrete, stone or ceramic tiles. It helps prevent abrasion of the skin and reduces the risk of chronic damage to the joint cartilage.
Thermal insulation and moisture barrier
EVA foam acts as a thermal insulator, limiting heat transfer between the knees and a cold surface. The closed-cell structure of the material prevents moisture from wet work surfaces penetrating through.

Compatibility with work trousers
The Vorel 74595 inserts work with work trousers fitted with knee pad pockets. Before buying, check whether your trousers have entry openings to the pockets at knee height - these are usually located on the outer or front side of the legs.
Use and maintenance
The inserts should be slid into the knee pad pockets before starting work, making sure the foam lies correctly across the whole surface of the pocket. Once work is finished, the inserts can be removed, which allows the trousers to be washed without having to take out the protection.
EVA foam requires no special maintenance. If it becomes dirty, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth. Store the material in a dry place, away from sources of high temperature that may affect the elasticity of the foam.
The protective inserts should be checked regularly for mechanical damage and material wear. Flattening of the foam by more than 50% of its original thickness means that the cushioning properties have been lost and the inserts need to be replaced with new ones.
