Vorel 78478 10-in-1 Universal Utility Key for Service Cabinets
A multi-function utility key with 10 different socket profiles for opening utility cabinets, meter boxes and secured installations. Its nickel-plated zinc alloy construction provides corrosion resistance and a long service life.
Features of the universal utility key
Ten profiles in one tool
The key combines square (5-11 mm), triangular (7-12 mm), two-prong (3-5 mm), half-round (6 mm) and stepped (6-9 mm) sockets. It removes the need to carry a separate key for each type of utility lock.
Nickel-plated zinc alloy
The construction material resists mechanical impact and wear. The nickel layer protects against atmospheric corrosion, which extends service life in outdoor and damp conditions.
Integrated adapter with double-ended bit
The supplied PH2 (Phillips) and 7 mm slotted bit extend functionality to tightening screws in utility cabinets. The adapter allows quick bit changes without additional tools.
Compact design

Socket types and their applications
Square sockets (5-11 mm)
The most widespread type of lock found in meter boxes and distribution cabinets. The four sizes cover most standard locks used by utility providers and property managers.
Triangular sockets (7-12 mm)
Used in specialist technical installations, often in industrial facilities and telecommunications infrastructure. The three sizes ensure compatibility with locking systems from various manufacturers.
Two-prong socket (3-5 mm)
A profile characteristic of older utility locks and some European systems. The 3-5 mm range covers various versions of this type of lock.
Stepped square sockets (6-9 mm)
The Christmas-tree design allows the key to fit four different lock sizes without changing its position. Particularly useful when working on installations where the lock sizes are unknown.
Maintenance and use
The universal utility key requires no special maintenance. The nickel plating protects against corrosion, but after working in damp conditions the key should be wiped dry. Excessive mechanical load beyond the strength of the zinc alloy should be avoided.
Before use, check that the socket profile matches the lock in the cabinet. Selecting the wrong size can damage the lock or the key. If the lock is difficult to open, do not apply excessive force – try an alternative socket or size.
Store the bit adapter together with the key so that the tool remains fully functional on site. The double-ended bit can be replaced with other standard 1/4-inch bits if it wears out or other profiles are needed.
