300 mm diameter
The brush size matches chimney flues with an internal diameter of approximately 280-320 mm. Before purchase, measure the actual diameter of the chimney flue, as the brush should be matched to the dimensions of the chimney in order to effectively remove soot and deposits from the entire wall surface.
M12 male thread
The standard M12 metric thread allows the brush to be fitted to a chimney rod or wire with a suitable threaded connector. The male thread provides a stable connection to the extension system, which ensures control over the tool while working in the chimney flue.
Steel wire construction

Choosing the right brush for the chimney

Fitting and working with the brush
The brush is fitted to a chimney rod or wire via the M12 thread, tightening the connection by hand or with a spanner. While working, use a back-and-forth motion, gradually moving the brush down the flue. After each use, clean the brush of soot and check the condition of the steel wire - bent or damaged bristles reduce cleaning efficiency.
Cleaning frequency
Building regulations require the inspection and cleaning of chimney flues at least once a year for solid fuel installations, and twice a year for coal- or wood-fired boilers used intensively. The actual frequency depends on the type of fuel, the combustion temperature and the intensity of use - burning damp wood or burning at low temperatures requires more frequent cleaning.
