A spiral drill bit made from carbon steel, designed for drilling holes in softwood and hardwood. The spiral design ensures efficient chip removal during use.
The spiral flute running along the shank clears chips from the hole as you drill, which prevents the bit from clogging and overheating. This allows holes to be drilled faster with less effort from the operator.
The material gives the cutting edge suitable hardness while maintaining resistance to breakage. Carbon steel performs well when drilling various types of wood, from pine boards to harder oak components.
This size is intended for precise assembly holes, pilot drilling for screws and joining timber components. It is compatible with most drill drivers and hand drills with a standard chuck.
The overall length of the bit allows holes to be drilled in material up to approximately 60-70 mm thick, allowing for the length held in the chuck. This is sufficient for typical carpentry and assembly work.
| Manufacturer | YATO |
| Model | YT-4352 |
| Drill bit type | Spiral wood drill bit |
| Drill bit diameter | 5 mm |
| Overall length | 85 mm |
| Material | Carbon steel |
| Application | Softwood and hardwood |
| Shank type | Standard cylindrical |
For softwood, use speeds of 1500-3000 rpm; for hardwood, 1000-1500 rpm. Excessive speed can scorch the material and overheat the bit. Too low a speed prolongs the working time and increases wear on the cutting edge.
After use, clean wood residue from the bit with a brush or compressed air. Store in a dry place, protecting the cutting edge from moisture. Check the sharpness periodically - a blunt bit requires greater pressure and generates more heat.
Begin drilling perpendicular to the surface, maintaining steady, moderate pressure. When drilling through, place a piece of scrap timber underneath to prevent the wood from splintering as the bit exits. For deep holes, withdraw the bit periodically to clear the chips.
