A tool for mechanically levelling and smoothing the surface of polystyrene boards and other thermal insulation materials before applying adhesive and facade render. The insulation rasp removes unevenness and excess material, preparing a flat surface for the reinforcing layer in ETICS external wall insulation systems.

Anodised aluminium profile

Use and maintenance
Instructions for use
Use the insulation rasp with a circular or straight motion across the surface of the installed polystyrene. Apply even pressure, adjusted to the hardness of the material. Begin by identifying the most protruding areas of the boards. Hold the tool at an angle that allows effective abrasion with minimal effort. Shaking off the abraded material regularly prevents it from building up.
Tool maintenance
After use, clean the rasp of polystyrene residue with a brush or compressed air. Check the replaceable blades for wear – blunt or damaged parts should be replaced. The aluminium body requires no special maintenance, although it should be stored in a dry place. Periodically checking the blade-to-body fixings ensures safe working.
Choosing the right rasp for the job
The 200 mm length suits most standard external wall insulation work on residential facades. For very large industrial areas, longer versions (300–400 mm) may be considered, while shorter versions (100–150 mm) work better for architectural details and hard-to-reach places.
