A digital thickness gauge for precise measurement of material thickness in the 0 to 12.7 mm range. The device offers 0.001 mm resolution and features a digital LCD display with switching between metric and imperial units.
Features of the digital thickness gauge
0.001 mm resolution
Resolution determines the smallest change in thickness that the gauge can detect. A value of 0.001 mm (1 micrometre) makes it possible to measure even the most minimal differences in material thickness, which is crucial in the quality control of precision components, paint coatings and films.
Measuring accuracy ±0.001 mm
Accuracy defines the maximum measurement error of the device. A value of ±0.001 mm means that the actual thickness of the item being measured differs from the reading by no more than 1 micrometre. This parameter matters in measurements that have to comply with technical standards.
30 mm throat depth
Throat depth determines how far from the edge of the material a measurement can be taken. A value of 30 mm allows thickness to be measured in the middle of larger sheets, plates or boards, without the need to cut them or prepare special samples.
LCD display with unit conversion
The digital LCD display provides an immediate reading of the measurement result without the need to interpret analogue indications. The function for switching between millimetres and inches (0.00005″) makes it easier to work with technical documentation that uses different systems of units.

The zero function in practice
The zero function allows any point to be set as a reference (zero). It is useful for relative measurements – for example when measuring the difference in thickness between two layers of material, or checking thickness variations at different points of the same item. Once the gauge has been placed on the reference point and the zero button pressed, all subsequent measurements will show the difference relative to that point.
Use and maintenance
The digital thickness gauge must be used within the 5-40°C operating temperature range. Measurements taken outside this range may be subject to increased error. Before starting work, it is worth checking the calibration of the device by measuring a reference standard of known thickness.
The automatic switch-off extends the life of the LR44 battery, which provides approximately 150 mAh of capacity. A fading display contrast or a failure of the device to respond when switched on indicates that the battery needs replacing.
The measuring surfaces of the gauge should be protected from dirt and mechanical damage. Even minor scratches on the measuring contact points can affect reading accuracy. After use, the device should be stored in the supplied case, which protects it from dust and accidental impact.
Verifying measurement accuracy
To check whether the thickness gauge is working correctly, thickness standards (gauge blocks) can be used, or the same item can be measured several times at the same point. The repeatability of the readings should be within ±0.001 mm. If the differences are greater, this may indicate wear of the measuring contact points or the need for calibration.
