Lightweight S1P safety footwear with a composite toe cap and a flexible penetration-resistant midsole. The TPU and mesh upper keeps the foot ventilated, while the two-layer EVA/rubber sole delivers shock absorption and grip in demanding working conditions.
Technical features of S1P safety trainers
Metal-free composite protection
The composite toe cap withstands impacts of up to 200 J and compression loads of up to 15 kN, in compliance with EN ISO 20345. The metal-free construction eliminates thermal bridges, makes the footwear more flexible and does not restrict natural foot movement when kneeling or when passing through metal detectors.
Flexible penetration-resistant midsole
The plastic midsole insert protects the foot against penetration by sharp objects at forces of up to 1100 N. Unlike steel inserts, its flexible construction does not stiffen the sole, which improves comfort when walking on uneven surfaces and does not restrict the natural flex of the foot.
Two-layer EVA/rubber sole
The combination of EVA foam (midsole layer) and an outer rubber layer absorbs impacts and provides grip on a range of surfaces. The sole meets the requirements of class SRC – slip resistance on ceramic tiles with detergent and on steel surfaces with glycerine. Its antistatic properties dissipate electrical charge, reducing the risk of sparking.
Breathable TPU + mesh upper
Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is highly resistant to abrasion and cracking. The mesh panels provide air circulation, which matters when working indoors or at elevated temperatures. The upper material is resistant to oils, petrol and chemicals.

What does category S1P mean under EN ISO 20345?
Category S1P covers footwear with a protective toe cap, a closed heel area, antistatic properties, energy absorption in the heel region and a penetration-resistant midsole. The letter "P" indicates that the sole is penetration-resistant. S1P footwear is intended for work in dry environments and does not provide water resistance. It performs well where there is a risk of objects of limited weight falling and where the sole may come into contact with sharp objects on the ground.
Use and care
Before first use, check that the insole length (25.5 cm) matches the length of your foot. Safety footwear should allow 1–1.5 cm of clearance in front of the toes. Adjust the lacing so that the foot sits securely, without excessive pressure across the instep.
Clean the TPU and mesh upper with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use organic solvents or wire brushes, which can damage the structure of the material. After working in contact with chemicals, clean the footwear immediately and check it for damage.
Check the EVA and rubber sole regularly for tread wear. Loss of slip resistance or visible cracks mean the footwear must be withdrawn from use. The EVA insole can be removed and replaced with an orthopaedic one if the user's individual needs require it.
Storing the footwear at room temperature, away from heat sources and direct sunlight, extends the life of the materials. Replacing safety footwear regularly after 6–12 months of intensive use helps maintain its protective parameters.
