YATO YT-35866 18 mm Hollow Punch for Leather, Rubber, Cardboard and Textiles
A hollow punch is a basic tool for cutting round holes in soft materials. Model YT-35866 has an 18 mm cutting diameter, a tool steel body and a design that makes the punched material easy to remove.
Technical features of the hollow punch
Tool steel with a black oxide finish
The material resists deformation under repeated hammer blows. The black oxide treatment forms a protective layer against corrosion, extending tool life in workshop conditions.
Sharpened cutting edge
The factory-sharpened cutting edge produces clean cuts with no frayed edges. The blade geometry is designed for materials up to 5 mm thick.
Knurled grip
The knurling stops the tool from turning in the hand during hammer strikes. The textured surface improves safety during repeated use.
Side ejection hole
The channel in the punch wall makes it easy to remove the punched discs without taking the tool apart. This speeds up work when holes are punched in series.

Use and maintenance
How to work with a hollow punch
The punch requires a cutting surface made of hardwood or rubber. Lay the material flat and hold the tool perpendicular to the surface. The hammer strike should be firm and single. After each use, remove the punched material through the side hole. Regular cleaning of the cutting edge with white spirit removes glue and resin residue.
Sharpening and blade care
With intensive use, the cutting edge needs periodic sharpening with a 600-grit diamond file. Sharpen from the inside of the tube, keeping the original chamfer angle. After sharpening, protect the surface with a thin layer of machine oil. Storing the tool in a dry place prevents surface corrosion.
