YATO YT-61714 HSS Cylindrical Rotary Burr
Cylindrical rotary burr made from HSS 4241 high-speed steel for working steel and aluminium. Designed for use with electric and pneumatic die grinders.
Features of the HSS rotary burr
HSS 4241 high-speed steel
An alloy containing tungsten, molybdenum and cobalt, giving a hardness of 63–65 HRC. It retains its cutting properties at temperatures of up to 600°C, which allows work at higher speeds without loss of the cutting edge.
Cylindrical geometry
The cylindrical shape with multiple cutting edges allows work on flat surfaces, edges and the inside of holes. It ensures stable, vibration-free operation at the correct speed.
6 mm shank
A 6 mm shank diameter is the standard for die grinders and flexible shaft grinders. It fits ER11 chucks and the collets used in power and air tools.
Speed up to 30,000 rpm
A maximum speed of 30,000 rpm allows efficient work with most die grinders. For steel, 15,000–20,000 rpm is recommended; for aluminium, 20,000–25,000 rpm.

Use and maintenance
Speed selection
For structural steel, use 15,000–20,000 rpm with emulsion or oil cooling. For aluminium and copper, 20,000–25,000 rpm; dry operation is possible. Too low a speed causes the tool to seize, too high a speed leads to overheating and loss of the cutting edge.
Mounting in the chuck
The 6 mm shank requires a collet or an ER11 chuck. Make sure the shank is inserted to the full depth of the chuck and tightened with a torque wrench. Play in the chuck causes runout and damage to the tool.
Cleaning after use
When you have finished, remove swarf with a wire brush, wash with white spirit and dry with compressed air. Store in a dry place and protect from moisture. HSS steel does not require lubrication, but a thin layer of protective oil may be applied.
