YATO YT-65066 100 mm Cast Iron Drill Press Vice

A bench-mounted drill press vice designed for permanent fixing to a workbench. The cast iron construction with replaceable hardened steel jaws provides a secure hold on workpieces during machining, drilling and grinding.

Jaw width100 mm
Clamping force75 kg
Body materialCast iron
Weight2 kg

Features of the drill press vice

Cast iron construction with hammered finish

The cast iron body offers high rigidity and resistance to deformation under load. The hammered finish protects against corrosion and increases durability in workshop conditions. At 2 kg, it provides stability during use without placing excessive strain on the workbench.

Replaceable hardened steel jaws

The hardened steel jaws are durable and resistant to wear under frequent use. Replaceable jaws allow the vice to be used over the long term without having to replace the entire mechanism. Compatibility with YATO magnetic jaw pads (YT-65001, YT-65006) allows delicate materials to be protected.

Trapezoidal screw with 100 mm jaw opening

The trapezoidal screw ensures smooth jaw movement together with high resistance to axial loads. A maximum opening of 100 mm allows workpieces of various sizes to be clamped. The mechanism is characterised by low wear and a long service life with regular use.

Permanent mounting to the workbench

The 187 x 167 mm base with 15 mm mounting holes is designed for permanent fixing with bolts. Permanent mounting eliminates vibration during machining and ensures repeatable positioning. This mounting method requires a workbench of suitable thickness and strength.

Applications of the drill press vice

  • Drilling holes in metal and wooden workpieces with a bench drill
  • Grinding edges and surfaces of parts with a grinder
  • Milling precision parts that require a secure hold
  • Cutting materials with a hand saw or power saw while ensuring a safe grip
  • Model-making work requiring precise positioning of small parts
  • Assembly and disassembly of components in workshop conditions
  • Woodworking tasks involving the machining of wood and composite materials
  • Welding operations requiring joined parts to be held firmly in place

Use and maintenance

Mounting to the workbench

Before mounting, check the strength of the workbench – it must withstand the dynamic loads generated during machining. The 15 mm mounting holes require bolts of a suitable diameter with washers. The workbench should be at least 25-30 mm thick to ensure stability. After mounting, check that the vice is level.

Maintaining the screw mechanism

The trapezoidal screw should be cleaned regularly of swarf and contaminants that can impair smooth movement. Periodic lubrication of the thread with lithium grease or machine oil is recommended. Do not apply excessive force when tightening – a clamping force of 75 kg is sufficient for most applications. Regular cleaning and lubrication extend the service life of the mechanism.

Replacing the jaws and accessories

The hardened steel jaws are subject to natural wear and may need replacing after intensive use. When working with delicate materials (aluminium, plastics, wood), YATO magnetic protective pads YT-65001 or YT-65006 are recommended, as they prevent damage to the surface of the workpiece. The pads attach magnetically to the jaws with no need for dismantling.
