Method for measuring diameter and circumference

The diameter is read directly from the upper scale, while the lower scale shows the actual circumference. This removes the need to use the π×d formula, which speeds up measurement and reduces the risk of calculation errors.
Steel tape maintenance
After use, clean the tape of any dirt and dry it. Although it is made from stainless steel, prolonged contact with aggressive chemicals may affect the legibility of the graduations. Store the tape rolled up, avoiding permanent kinks that would affect measuring accuracy.
Measuring limitations
Measuring accuracy depends on even tension on the tape and on it being positioned perpendicular to the axis of the component being measured. When measuring components with an uneven or oval surface, the tape indicates the average circumference. For components with a diameter below 20 mm, micrometers or callipers are recommended.
