Features of the YATO YT-849332 Guide Bar

65Mn Manganese Steel

The guide bar is made from 65Mn steel with a higher manganese content, which provides increased resistance to abrasion and thermal deformation. The bar maintains its working parameters even under intensive use and the high temperatures generated during cutting.

Automatic Oiling System

The integrated chain oiling channel delivers oil directly to the cutting area, reducing friction between the links and the bar groove. This limits overheating of the system and extends the service life of both the guide bar and the chain.

Roller Nose Bearing

The roller bearing at the nose of the guide bar minimises resistance as the chain travels around the curve, which reduces mechanical wear and makes precise curved cuts easier. The four-rivet construction ensures secure mounting of the bearing.

U-Type Mount

The universal U-type mounting system allows the guide bar to be fitted to chainsaws from a range of manufacturers. Compatibility should be checked against the mounting type given in the chainsaw manual and the chain parameters (pitch, drive link gauge).

Choosing the Right Guide Bar for Your Chainsaw

How to Check Guide Bar Compatibility

Before buying, three parameters should be verified: the mount type (U, K, A), the chain pitch (the distance between three consecutive rivets divided by two) and the drive link gauge, measured with a vernier caliper in the groove of the old guide bar. The YT-849332 guide bar works with chains with a pitch of 0.325" and a drive link gauge of 0.05", such as the YATO YT-849452.

Guide Bar Length vs Chainsaw Power

An 18-inch guide bar requires a chainsaw with a minimum power of 1.8-2.0 kW (petrol engine) or 1.5-1.8 kW (electric motor). A guide bar that is too long for the chainsaw's power leads to overloading the engine, a drop in chain speed and accelerated wear of the drive system.

Maintenance and Use

The bar groove should be cleaned regularly of debris using soft wood or a plastic brush. A blocked oiling channel prevents oil from reaching the chain, which leads to overheating and seizing. Groove wear is checked by measuring its width – once it exceeds 1.5 mm, the guide bar needs replacing.

Even wear of the guide bar is achieved by turning it over every 8-10 hours of operation. This makes it possible to use both edges of the bar groove. The roller nose bearing should be greased periodically through the lubrication hole at the nose of the guide bar.

Chain sharpening should be carried out while maintaining the correct sharpening angle (30° for standard chains) and an equal length for all cutting teeth. An unevenly sharpened chain places a one-sided load on the guide bar and causes premature wear.
