Applications in crop cultivation

A ridging plough is used to prepare soil for crops that need to be grown on ridges — raised strips of earth separated by furrows. This method is used when growing root and tuber vegetables.

• Potatoes — ridging makes planting, earthing up and harvesting of tubers easier
• Carrots — ridges improve drainage and prevent water from pooling
• Beetroot — ridges allow sowing depth to be controlled and plants to be spaced evenly
• Onions — raising the soil level protects against waterlogging
• Preparing soil for vegetable transplants — formed ridges make planting and tending easier
• Growing vegetables in heavy soils — ridges improve structure and aeration
• Growing on land with poor drainage — ridges carry away excess water

Checking compatibility with your tractor

Use and maintenance

Before first use, check the condition of the connections and that the plough is correctly mounted on the tractor. When working in soil, it is advisable to check the stability of the mounting and the depth of penetration.

After field work, clean the attachment of any remaining soil and plant matter. To protect the steel parts from corrosion, store the plough in a dry room. Checking the condition of the shares and other working parts at regular intervals allows wear to be detected early.
