A premium-grade flap disc with zirconia oxide grain, designed for working on stainless steel, alloy steels and non-ferrous metals. The flap construction ensures even grinding through to the complete wear of the abrasive material.
Zirconia oxide exhibits a self-sharpening effect – during use the grains fracture, exposing new sharp edges. This gives the disc a longer service life than conventional aluminium oxide, particularly when working on wear-resistant materials.
A grit of 80 is a universal choice for removing larger uneven areas, deburring, preparing surfaces for welding and initial grinding. It leaves a visible but even scratch pattern – finer grits are needed for finishing on precision work.
The flexible resin-reinforced fibreglass backing allows the disc to follow the shape of the surface being worked. The flap construction spreads heat evenly and reduces vibration during use.
A maximum speed of 12,200 rpm corresponds to a surface speed of 80 m/s. Before fitting, check that the grinder does not exceed these values – the data is given on the tool's rating plate.

Before buying, check the bore diameter of your grinder – as standard it is 22.2 mm on 125 mm angle grinders. Make sure the maximum speed of the tool does not exceed 12,200 rpm. If in doubt, use a reducing ring or adapter ring.
Before fitting the disc, check that it has no mechanical damage. The disc must be fitted in accordance with the direction of rotation marked on the label. Avoid applying excessive pressure during use – the weight of the grinder is enough for effective grinding. Too much pressure shortens the life of the disc and can lead to overheating of the material.
Zirconia flap discs require periodic "dressing" – brief operation on a hard material, which removes contaminants and restores the sharpness of the grain. Store in a dry place, away from moisture, which can weaken the fibreglass backing.
Personal protective equipment must be worn when grinding: safety glasses, work gloves, hearing protection and a dust mask. Work in a well-ventilated area. A damaged disc or one past its use-by date must not be used.
